Lindner leads Neillsville to state championship game

GREEN BAY (WAOW) - The Neillsville girls basketball team will play for its second state title in three years, after winning its state semifinal game 51-43 against Broadhead today.

The Warriors were led by standout forward Jenny Lindner, who had a game high 33 points, including shooting 18-19 from the free thrown line.

The 18 made free throws is a WIAA single game state tournament record for all divisions. Her 33 points was six points short of the Division 3 single game state tournament record.

Neillsville will play Kettle Moraine Lutheran Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m. for the Division 3 championship.

Wisconsin Rapids Assumption will also look to repeat as the Division 5 champions on Saturday. The Royals are taking on Barneveld in a rematch of last season's Division 5 championship game. That game will tip off at 11:05 a.m.

All five girls basketball state championship games on Saturday can be seen on Newsline 9.
