Workers cutting junked cars ignite fire

BIRNAMWOOD (WAOW) – Workers cutting apart junked cars at a salvage yard ignited a fire Tuesday that destroyed one building used to sort metal, authorities said.

The fire at Weller's Salvage broke out about 1:30 p.m.

No one was hurt, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said.

Firefighters from four area departments helped douse the flames.
