12 stolen guns, crossbow found at Wausau home

WAUSAU (WAOW) – Twelve guns and a crossbow reported stolen in a Price County burglary were recovered from a home in Wausau, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

Three people were detained for questioning following the search of the home, Sheriff Scott Parks said.

The guns – 11 rifles and one shotgun – were reported stolen March 17, Parks said in a statement. They were recovered Monday.

Parks said the investigation initially led them to search a Hatley home on March 19, where about one pound of marijuana, one gram of hash oil, seven prescription narcotics and $6,000 in cash were seized but no guns were found.

Two men – Dustan Truax, 31, and Cody Wenzel, 22 – were arrested following the Hatley search, the sheriff said.

Truax was arrested on suspicion of a drug charge and Wenzel was arrested for a probation violation, Parks said.
