UPDATE: Central Wisconsin men arrested in sex sting

Posted: Updated:

The Wausau Police Department says five men from central Wisconsin have been arrested in a law enforcement internet sting operation that targeted adults who prey on children.

Wausau police say Todd Jelinski, 44, of Schofield; Steve Krall, 36, of Stratford; Dennis Rice, 58, of Merrill; Peter Galioto, 19, of Wausau; and Jeffrey Beckman, 51, of Rosholt were arrested.

These men were charged in Marathon County Court.

Rice works for the city of Wausau as public works equipment director. City officials say Rice has been placed on unpaid administrative leave because of the charges against him.

Public defender Pauline Toulouse represented each of the five men during Monday's initial court appearances where bonds were set. She declined comment afterwards.

Authorities say the men have been arrested for child enticement and other crimes as the result of the sting which involved officers from the Wausau Police Department and the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.

This is part of a larger sting, involving 75 officers from at least 7 agencies. Law enforcement officers posted an ad on CraigsList.com and officials say it didn't take long for responses.
