Train delays firefighters rushing to tractor fire

JUNCTION CITY (WAOW) – A train blocking a driveway to a rural Junction City farm temporarily kept firefighters from getting to a tractor fire, authorities said Monday.

We had to take a back road around the train instead of a main road,” said John Steuck, a spokesman for the Rudolph Fire Department. “There was some gnashing of teeth in getting in there.”

The Canadian National Railroad routinely blocks some access to properties just west of Junction City where the tractor fire occurred Sunday afternoon, he said.

The tractor caught on fire after the owner started it and it was destroyed, Steuck said. No structures or animals were hurt in the blaze, he said.
