Badgers fans make plans for Final Four appearance

WAUSAU (WAOW) - University of Wisconsin fans are making plans for Saturday's big game against Kentucky, but not every fan can make the trek to Texas for the Final Four matchup.

Badgers fans may not be celebrating in the street anymore, but they're still buzzing about the team's trip to the Final Four.

Kurt Kroening of Greenville says he went to the Final Four the last time Wisconsin was there in 2000. But this year, he'll be watching the game at a pub in Stevens Point.

"I'd definitely go if I had the money and I think it's the greatest sporting event that there is, even better than the Super Bowl," said Kroening.

Ticket prices on TicketCity.com range from about $200 to more than $20,000.

Sports bar managers are preparing for a big crowd.

"Last couple Badgers games we've had a wait at the door for at least a hour," said Lyndsey Dassow, a Buffalo Wild Wings manager.

Other fans say they plan to host watch parties with family and friends.

"We've just been getting together at different houses and having a lot of food and snacks and watching the game together," said Jamie Funmaker of Wittenberg.

On Saturday, Badgers fans will be spread throughout the state and the country.

"If everyone's not wearing red on Saturday, it'd be a travesty," said Kroening.

But come game time, they'll all be united in Badgers red.
