90 potential jurors summoned for murder trial

MERRILL (WAOW) - Ninety potential jurors will be summoned to the Lincoln County Courthouse on Monday for the trial of a Merrill man accused of killing his wife and hiding her body in some woods, according to online court records.

Mark Bucki, 50, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse and strangulation and suffocation in his wife, Anita's, death about a year ago.

Lincoln County Circuit Judge Jay Tlusty has scheduled a nine-day trial to start Monday. Court records indicate more than 70 prosecution witnesses could testify. The final motion hearing is Friday.

According to online court records, Tlusty dismissed 30 potential jurors from the original pool of 120 for hardship reasons during a hearing Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint, Mark Bucki told investigators that he and his wife were separated and she was living in Wausau. He said she came to their Merrill home about 9 p.m. on April 25 and a discussion about divorce lasted 2-3 hours. He reported her missing the next day.

More than two weeks later, a rural Taylor County couple on a walk spotted some human remains about 10 miles east of Medford and they were identified as Anita Bucki.

Prosecutors say the 48-year-old woman was stabbed seven times and she was strangled.

A jury of 15, which includes three alternates, will be picked to hear testimony in the trial, court records said.
