WAUSAU (WAOW) - Several efforts are underway in Wausau to raise awareness about sexual assault and violence.

A display set up at the Marathon County Public library in Wausau includes blue jeans with messages from survivors. There is also teal awareness ribbons and books about the topic.

The books offer advice on what to say to victims of sexual abuse and violence and what signs to look for.

"We want to get people talking about this so we can end it in the community," said Jane Graham Jennings, executive director of The Women's Community in Wausau.

A 2012 reports shows The Women's Community has provided support for hundreds of women, children and men who were victims of sexual assault.

The agency has teal ribbons available to show support for victims.

Later this month more activities take place in Wausau:

--Denim day display at North Central Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County, April  16.

--Award ceremony for outstanding achievement in supporting sexual assault victims, University of Wisconsin-Marathon County, April 16.
