Badgers fans in Final Four frenzy

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) - Across Wisconsin, Badgers fans are in a Final Four frenzy.

From traveling to Texas, to stocking up at home, Badgers fans spent Friday getting ready for Saturday's big game.

Early in the morning, hundreds of bright-eyed students boarded buses bound for Texas.

"I'm super pumped. I'm a fifth year senior so this is my last opportunity to see the Badgers play somewhere else besides the Kohl Center or Camp Randall so I'm really pumped up," said Christian Bridgeman, a UW-Madison student.

Other fans took to the skies to get to the Final Four game.

One father-son pair planned their trip last summer.

"Didn't expect Wisconsin to be there, but now that's just icing on the cake," said Jay Hyland who flew to Texas for the game.

Some barely beat the buzzer before booking.

"With 2.3 seconds left, jumped on the computer and got tickets and airfare and stuff," said Mark Gross who will also be at the game in Texas.

But many Bucky faithful will be cheering from central Wisconsin.

"We're all into it. Let me tell you," said Tammie Reno of Lone Rock.

First, though, they need to suit up.

Store managers at Target in Weston say they got boxes of Final Four gear in Friday morning but by the afternoon, much of it was already sold.

"Just being in Wisconsin and the Badgers being in the Final Four, there's a lot of hype around that. They should have a really good chance tomorrow night so everyone wants to show their support for our team," said Randy Hoffmeyer, Target team lead.

At Shopko too, it's Badgers galore.

"It's usually with the Packers so it's definitely nice to see the Badgers this time getting in that mix," said Derek Hanamann, Shopko customer service manager.

Picking the final pieces off the racks, fans made their predictions.

"I think it's going to come down to the wire but I think the Badgers will pull it out, of course," said Eric Kollmansberger of Weston.

The Badgers will face the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday evening. Tip-off is set for 7:49 p.m.
