Marshfield landlords learn about new laws

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) - Marshfield landlords educated themselves on recent changes to tenant laws.

About 25 landlords met at the Belvedere Supper Club on Saturday.

John Fisher of Wausau taught the class. Organizers say he's been teaching classes like this since 1987 and is known as "Doctor Rent."

They say there are benefits for both landlords and tenants when landlords fully understand the laws.

"It's very important that landlords are educated," said Kris Mueller, the president of the Marshfield Area Apartments Association. "The law has been changing in the last couple years. In the first part of March, there were 60 new parts of the law that have been changed for landlord tenants."

The class covered topics like security deposits, lease agreements and ways to maintain a good landlord-tenant relationship.
