UWSP museum opens doors to closed-off exhibits

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - Families in Stevens Point were treated to an experience that only happens once a year.

The Museum of Natural History at UW-Stevens Point opened its doors to show off its entire collection.

Museum managers say certain exhibits are reserved for teaching and research most of the year, but they say Saturday's event allowed both parents and children to see something special.

"We want to get the whole community involved, and we want to educate, especially the kids, and make them realize that natural history and science can be a lot of fun," said Lisa Viegut, the museum manager.

Managers say about 1,000 people came to see what the museum has to offer.
