Wausau Symphony and Band perform

MARATHON CO. (WAOW) - A central Wisconsin orchestra celebrated the start of spring with the Picnic at the Pavilion Concert at the Rothschild Pavilion on Sunday.

Both the Wausau Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band performed.

Organizers say about a hundred students, teachers, and professionals make up the bands.

They played pieces by Beethoven and from Broadway.

"Live music is the way to go," said Daniel Larson, the Wausau Symphony conductor. "There's nothing like a live performance, and it also brings the community together because it shows that music is a lifetime event, that music is something you take with you all the time."

This was the Wausau Symphony and Band's last performance of the 2013-14 season.

Their next season begins this fall.
