Weston voters to vote on cell phone ban

Cell Phone Ban Referendum Cell Phone Ban Referendum
WESTON (WAOW) - Voters in the Village of Weston will cast ballots on a cell phone ban while driving.

The Weston Village Board voted Monday night to put a non-binding question to voters in a November referendum.

"We want to hear from the people about whether they want the ban or they don't want the ban," said board member Fred Schuster.

The city of Wausau approved a ban on using cell phones or any electronic device while driving. It went into effect in February. No surrounding communities have adopted a similar ban despite leaders indicating plans to do so.

Board members say they must still determine the wording of the referendum.
