Rottweiler-type dog sought after biting Wausau boy

WAUSAU (WAOW) – The Marathon County Health Department is looking for a dog that bit a boy in Wausau as he walked with his mother.

The incident, involving a large "Rottweiler-type dog" that was being walked by a woman described as being in her 30s with brown, shoulder-length hair and wearing a bright pink shirt, occurred Tuesday about 7:30 p.m. near the corner of South Fifth Avenue and West Street, the health department said in a statement Wednesday.

Health officials say they need to find the dog to verify its vaccinations to prevent the child from having to go through a series of rabies shots.

People with information about the dog or its owner are asked to the call the health department at 715-261-1908, Marathon County dispatch at 715-849-7785 or the humane society at 715-845-2810.
