Music policy set in Wausau School District

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW) - The Wausau School Board has okayed a proposal designed to avoid any further controversy over Christmas music.

The board unanimously approved a proposal Monday that outlines how music will be chosen for concerts.

Music teachers will be required to work with their colleagues to choose songs.

The policy also allows for community input.

"It wasn't so much an administration deciding," said Board President Michelle Schaefer. "It was the music teachers planning and deciding and really making their own concerts."

A district-wide community board will also meet with music departments at least once a year to make sure everyone works together.
