UPDATE: Missing 90-year-old Shawano Co. man found dead
MATTOON (WAOW) – Searchers spent Thursday night and early Friday morning looking for a 90-year-old Antigo man who missed a planned visit with his wife in a care center, authorities said Friday.
The man, who was not named, was found dead about 9:30 a.m. Friday on land he owned near Mattoon, Shawano County Deputy Sheriff Nathan Thornborrow.
The man, who was last seen Thursday morning, had gone to the rural, wooded land where he liked to visit, his pickup truck got stuck and he began walking, Thornborrow said.
It's believed the man died of natural causes, and no foul play was suspected, the deputy said.
The Langlade County Sheriff's Department launched the search for him about 10 p.m. Thursday after the man's family advised authorities that it was unusual for him not to meet with his wife and her caregivers, Thornborrow said.
