UWSP students plant trees on campus

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - Students at UW Stevens Point are working toward making their campus a little bit greener.

In honor of Earth Week, Students for Sustainable Communities put on their gloves and got to planting. Students added 150 plants to campus Friday. They also made some additions to their garden like blueberry plants, a plum tree and a cherry tree.

"We plant these areas not just for students, but for the community to come in and enjoy. In the future,we're going to be labeling these plants so come in and know that these plants are edible and they can take the blueberries and try them out. I want them to come and enjoy it, too." said UWSP junior Taylor Christiansen.

The students plan on tackling more planting Wednesday. They hope to add another 150 plants to campus.
