Volunteers clean up litter in Marathon County

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- North central Wisconsin got a little bit cleaner Saturday.

The Ghidorzi Foundation held their 4th annual Green and Clean event.

Hundreds of volunteers were split up and sent to various locations in Marathon County with gloves and trash bags. They picked up litter for 2 hours.

Organizers say this is their way of recognizing Earth Day.

"Everybody can make a difference from the little kids who come out and start picking up garbage around their schools to big people who are picking up around their own businesses," said Chris Ghidorzi, vice president of Ghidorzi Companies. "It makes a difference. People have a lot of pride in our community."

Organizers say a clean community makes for a better place for people to live and visit.
