Florists busy for prom

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Flower shops in Wausau enjoyed the prom rush on Saturday.

Owner of Blossoms and Bows Charmaine Prewitt says many young men bought corsage wristlets for their dates this year.

But she says corsages sales are on a downward trend as more people choose to go to the dance in a group instead of with a date.

"Groups of young ladies that are going together and sometimes they don't buy themselves a wristlet and that's a trend that's been going on for about 10 years," said Prewitt.

She says the cold spring has not affected making corsages.

The flowers used to make them come from different states and countries.
