Wausau area trails remain closed

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) - Several trails in the Wausau area remain closed.

The Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department says that trails in the Nine Mile County Forest Recreation Area and Big Eau Pleine County Park are still closed to mountain biking and horseback riding. Officials at the Parks Department say the delayed opening is due to the weather.  They say with the amount of rain this spring, officials need the trails to dry out before opening.

The Burma County Forest Unit trails are also closed to ATVs and UTVs. Officials hope to open the trails May 15th. They say the opening of the trails depend on spring conditions.
