MERRILL (WAOW) - A week before the start of an expected seven-day trial, prosecutors on Tuesday dismissed two of nine felony charges against a Merrill woman accused of driving drunk in a crash that killed two women in June 2012.
Ashley Baumann, 26, goes on trial Monday on seven charges: two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, two counts of homicide by use of a vehicle while drinking, one count of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle, one count of injury by use of a vehicle while drinking and one count of reckless driving causing great bodily harm, court records said.
Prosecutors dropped two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle during a hearing Tuesday, according to online Lincoln County Circuit Court records.
Baumann was charged in November 2012 after a rollover crash that killed 33-year-old Jessica Hartwig and 31-year-old Misty Glisch. Baumann and another woman survived the crash.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday morning.
Circuit Judge Jay Tlusty advised attorneys Tuesday that he hoped jurors would begin deliberations by the afternoon of May 12, court records said.
