Woman gets plea deal in pot-candy case

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - One of two people arrested following a traffic stop in Marshfield in which 12 pounds of marijuana and some marijuana-laced chocolate candy were seized reached a plea deal Wednesday.

Alyssa Clapper, 23, of Marshfield pleaded no contest to four felonies, including manufacturing and delivering marijuana and maintaining a drug trafficking place, according to online Wood County court records. Three charges were dismissed in the plea deal.

No sentencing date was immediately set.

Clapper and Aaron Keuntjes, 26, of Auburndale, were stopped in separate cars Nov. 19 and investigators seized an estimated $88,000 worth of marijuana, some of it within homemade chocolate candy, police said. The stops were made after investigators said they received a tip.

Keuntjes was charged with five felonies, including manufacturing and delivering marijuana and maintaining a drug trafficking place, and four misdemeanors following his arrest.

He originally pleaded not guilty but court records say a new plea hearing has been set for May 27.
