The Wood County jail will soon use a new health care provider.
The Wood County Sheriff says the switch was made to save money and to get higher quality care.
He says the change will save $20,000 over the next year.
The new provider is Illinois-based Advanced Correctional Healthcare. The Sheriff says it's the largest provider of medical care for county jails in the United States.
"Additionally we're going to have access to different services that previously we didn't have such as the lab and the X-ray machines that are going to really, I think, help lower our costs and increase the overall health of our jail," said Sheriff Thomas Reichert.
The Sheriff says the new program will begin Thursday.
