Weather app pros from storms

Posted:
Newsline 9 is bringing you tips throughout the week to stay safe as storm season approaches.

Our weather app is a valuable tool and Chief Meteorologist Justin Loew tells us why.

"The weather app is very handy because you can get, not only the forecast, but you can follow the radar during severe weather, so you can actually see where some of the storms are hitting and you can get severe weather alerts through the weather app as well," Justin said.

"Another very nice feature is it will give you alerts no matter where you're at. You can change your location so that you can get alerts if you are in a different part of the area."

If your TV goes out, you can still use the weather app to get information during severe weather.

"The cell tours will still broadcast during severe weather all across the area. So the weather app will be updating if you're in your basement or sheltering from severe weather. So you can always get those updates."

The weather app is free and easy to download in the iTunes store or in Google Play by search WAOW or Newsline 9.
