MERRILL (WAOW) – A Tomahawk couple stole about $90,000 from a bus company where they worked, using the money for everything from groceries, liquor and car repairs to pornography, hotels and synthetic drugs, according to a criminal complaint.
Shad Harper, 44, and his wife, Kimberly, 45, are each charged with three felonies – theft, identity theft for financial gain and fraudulent use of a credit card.
They are to make their first appearance in Lincoln County Circuit Court on June 11, online court records indicated Friday.
The couple stole money from Tomahawk Bus Service between March 2009 and last June when the husband was employed as a manager and his wife was an office worker, according to a criminal complaint filed April 25.
The investigation began in December and determined the couple used the company's credit card or checking account for their personal use, including $4,200 for vehicle repairs, the complaint said.
“An unknown amount of cash taken in for charter bus trips and the soda/candy fun was also unaccounted for,” the complaint said.
The owner of the company fired the couple last June for “inadequate performance of their duties,” the complaint said.
