Police: Man enters home with sword, knife, stabs resident
STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- A 30-year-old man is in jail, after stabbing another man at a Stevens Point home, according to the Stevens Point Police Department.
Officials say the incident happened on May 1, just before 2 a.m. They say Joshua Bella broke into a home on the 2100 block of Division Street.
Officers say when they arrived, the man who was stabbed and a person who lived with him were holding Bella on the floor. They say Bella had a knife and a sword.
The man who was stabbed has been identified as 48-year-old John Richart. Authorities say Richart, who suffered three stab wounds, and Bella were taken to St. Michael's Hospital in Marshfield for their injuries. They say Bella suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Officials say both were released and that Bella was taken to the Portage County Jail on a probation violation. Sgt. Joe Gruber says police plan to recommend charges of armed burglary and aggravated assault to the Portage County District Attorney's office.
Stevens Point Police say Richart and Bella knew each other and that it was not a random incident.
