Educators eat free for Teacher Appreciation Day

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW) - The spotlight was on our areas educators Tuesday.

It was the 5th annual Teacher Appreciation Day at Applebee's restaurants across Wisconsin. To celebrate National Teacher's Day, the restaurant offered all teachers a select meal for free. Managers at the Applebee's in Wausau say about 40 retired teachers came in for lunch. They expected hundreds more to come in for dinner.

"We just want to say thank you," said Applebee's general manager Dave Oestreich. "It's a small token of what we can do for really key people in our community is to say thank you."

Every teacher current or retired, public or private, daycare through college was invited to take part.
