CRANDON (WAOW) - Four people pleaded not guilty Tuesday to numerous felonies accusing them of beating and torturing a man who was left in the woods as the attackers expected wolves to devour him.
Among the charges each face is attempted first-degree intentional homicide and kidnapping, according to online Forest County Circuit Court records.
Raymond Jones, 45, April Jones, 38, Justin Bey, 21, and Samantha McClellan, 19, appeared before Circuit Judge Michael Bloom and pleaded not guilty to the charges, online court records said. No trial date was immediately set.
Investigators say a 40-year-old man was beaten and tortured inside a Wabeno home in March because his attackers believed he touched a child inappropriately.
Prosecutors say the suspects left the man in the woods near Crandon for almost two days hoping wolves would attack him. Two ATV drivers found the man who had a broken jaw, two broken ribs, one foot that was completely frozen and was near death, prosecutors said.
