Athlete of the Week: Rochelle Koshalek, Mosinee

MOSINEE (WAOW) -- Rochelle Koshalek did something last week that many wouldn't dream of doing in a lifetime.

The dual threat threw two no hitters and hit two home runs, helping Mosinee remain unbeaten with her contributions in the circle and at the plate.

"(Playing both ways) kind of makes me more concentrated on the game. More focused," Koshalek said. "And I like to participate as much as I can in both parts.

"I've been doing it so long that the mound just kind of feels like my second home," she added, smiling.

Koshalek's success certainly isn't lost on those around her.

"She special," Mosinee Head Softball Coach Todd Felch said. "She sets the tone. It's nice to have someone out there on the mound that as long as she's throwing hard, we'll be in the game. She always gives us an opportunity to win."

The diamond isn't the only place where Koshalek thrives. She's a multi-sport athlete, starring on the volleyball and basketball courts as well.

"She's got a work ethic that can't be beaten," Felch said. "She's always working at pitching. She's working at hitting. She's working at basketball. She's working at volleyball.

"I think about 90 percent of her day is filled with either academics or athletics," Felch added.

Koshalek did admit though, that of the three sports, softball stands out as her favorite.

"I've just been doing it for so long, and I like to give it my all when it comes to this sport. I don't know what it is about it."

Mosinee is 16-0 and ranked third in Division 3 by the WFSCA Coaches Poll.
