Two crashes, one arrest in Rothschild

ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) - One person was arrested after two crashes in Marathon County Thursday morning, according to the Rothschild Police Department.

Officials say the first crash happened around 8 a.m. They say a 41-year-old woman was driving a car with three children inside when she hit two poles at the intersection of Business 51 and the ramp for Highway 29. No one was seriously injured. Police say the woman was arrested for being under the influence with a controlled substance. The children were released to their mother, officers say.

Another crash happened at the same intersection, police say. They tell Newsline 9 that a man driving a truck carrying a trailer hit a construction vehicle while getting off the Highway 29 ramp. No one was injured.

Traffic there is moving, but Business 51 is down to one lane on each side as crews repair the poles.
