Stevens Point boy: Stranger tries to lure him

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) – A 10-year-old Stevens Point boy told police that a mini-van pulled alongside him and a man asked him if he wanted to go to a local store, authorities said Thursday.

The boy refused, the man drove away and now police have launched an investigation into the Tuesday night incident in the 2700 block of Indiana Avenue, Sgt. Tony Babl said.

The man did not say anything else to the boy and did not exit his vehicle or make any attempts to grab the boy,” Babl said in a statement.

It's unknown what the man's intentions were, Babl said.

The vehicle was described as a newer, gray mini-van with a man, about 40 years old, who had a reddish beard and was perhaps wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, Babl said.

People with information are asked to call the police department at 715-346-1518.
