ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) -
Hundreds of motorcycle riders are preparing for the annual MDA ride this weekend.
The ride benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
A parade will be held Friday night to kick off the event. It starts at Marathon Park in Wausau and ends at the Harley-Davidson dealership in Rothschild.
Riding instructors say drivers should be aware of motorcycles on the road. They say motorcyclists should make sure their bikes are ready before they take off.
"They need to make sure the bikes are in good condition, make sure your skills are up there," said Duane Kieliszewski, a riding iinstructorat the Harley-Davidson dealership in Rothschild. "Being as late of a spring as it's been, a lot of people are probably still rusty. They need to get themselves back acclimated to their motorcycle."
Organizers say this event kicks off the summer riding season. Kieliszewski encourages mmotorcycliststo ease into the season by taking shorter rides before long trips.
