Gun pointed during 'road rage' in northern Wis.

MINOCQUA (WAOW) – A man who pointed a gun at another driver in a "road rage" incident led to a police chase Friday, the lockdown of an elementary school and the recovery of a loaded .40-caliber pistol from a vehicle, police said.

A 34-year-old man was arrested following the incident, Minocqua Police Chief David Jaeger said. No shots were fired.

About 8 a.m., several law enforcement agencies responded to a report of “road rage” on U.S. Highway 51 involving the pointing of a firearm at the driver of another vehicle, Jaeger said in a statement.

Police received reports the suspected vehicle drove through an MHLT Elementary School in Minocqua, leading to a brief lockdown as a precaution, the chief said.

Principal Rob Way told Newsline 9 the lockdown lasted about five minutes, no students were in any danger and no classes were disrupted.

Police found the suspect's vehicle at the intersection of Lee Road and Titus Road, leading to the arrest of Michael Schettino of the Town of Woodruff, Jaeger said.
