Most Nine Mile Forest trails open Saturday

WAUSAU (WAOW) – Most mountain bike trails at Nine Mile Forest open Saturday, the Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department announced.

Some trails will be fenced and signed as closed, including portions of ski trails C and D, the south half of R and all of S, the agency said.

The trails will open at noon each day until May 27 due to turkey hunting, Superintendent Ken Krueger said. After that, the trails will be open all day.

Krueger said all horse trails have opened at the Kronenwetter and Leathercamp Forest units, but the horse trails at Nine Mile Forest remain closed.

There are several large, wet areas, and no way to get around them,” he said in a statement.

Krueger said the disc golf course at Big Eau Pleine Park opened Friday.
