Sheriff: Six arrested in Vilas County drug raid

EAGLE RIVER (WAOW) – Six people were arrested on drug-related charges following an early-morning search of a rural Eagle River home suspected as a flop house for drug and alcohol use, Vilas County Sheriff Joseph Fath said Wednesday.

We did confiscate some bags of marijuana,” the sheriff said.

The raid occurred about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on State Highway 70 east of Eagle River, he said.

Arrested on suspicion of illegal drug use or sales were the home's owner Deanna Worthen, 46, of Eagle River; Joseph Woodward, 21 of Eagle River; Kasey Tank, 20, of Eagle River; James Mahar, 19, of Conover; Thomas Ruth, 19, of Eagle River; and Caleb Grosskopf, 19, of Eagle River, Fath said..

Two other people were arrested at the home for probation violations and another was arrested on a warrant from Oneida County, the sheriff said.

It was pretty common for this home to be used as a flop house,” Fath said.

No dollar value was placed on the marijuana that was confiscated, Fath said.
