WAUSAU (WAOW) – Darrell Lentz has been named president of Aspirus Wausau Hospital, six months after he took over on an interim basis.

Lentz, a 42-year-old native of Maine, joined the hospital as vice president of finance in January 2011.

In the past year, Darrell has done a great job of guiding Aspirus Wausau Hospital through major changes without losing focus on our priority – serving our communities with excellence and compassion,” Chief Executive Officer Matt Heywood said in a statement Thursday.

His skills and leadership will help us succeed in an industry that is evolving rapidly and dramatically.”

Lentz has more than 16 years of experience in the health care and financial industries, including 14 years of management and executive leadership, Heywood said.

Prior to joining Aspirus, Lentz served as chief financial strategic operations officer for University Hospitals and Health System, a five-hospital health care system that is part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Lentz replaces Diane Postler-Slattery who left last year to take a leadership position with a hospital in Michigan, the hospital said.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital, headquartered in Wausau, is a regional health provider in northcentral Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It has 350 doctors in 35 specialties and employs about 5,500 workers.
