Couple escapes Weston house fire

WESTON (WAOW) -     A couple was able to escape a Weston house fire unharmed Friday night, according to Weston and Rib Mountain Fire Department officials.
A call that a home on Callon Avenue on the corner of County Highway J was on fire came in around 11:00 p.m. Fire officials tell Newsline 9 that more than half of the house was in flames when they arrived on the scene, making it so that crews could only fight the blaze from outside of the home. Officials say a neighbor that spotted the fire was able to knock on the door of the home, waking the couple that lived there. They say the couple was able to escape the fire uninjured, but a cat is still missing. The home did have working smoke detectors, according to officials.

Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Crews stayed on the scene to extinguish hot spots in the home.

The Weston Fire Department,  the Rib Mountain Fire Department, the Schofield Fire Department, the Ringle Fire Department, the Town of Easton Fire Department and a Rothschild ambulance responded.
