Increased sales at Wisconsin farmers markets

People are spending more money at farmers markets throughout Wisconsin, according to the latest Census of Agriculture.

The data shows in 2012 Marathon County farmers saw a six percent increase in direct sales to people compared to in 2007.

Wausau Farmers Market manager Craig Carlson says they're seeing the increase.

He says the market is off to a good start this season.

"There's been good support by the vendors," said Carlson. "There's been quite a variety of vendors with a variety of products, so it's been appealing to many of our regular customers. "

The farmers market in Wausau is open on Saturdays and Wednesdays. For more information about this farmers market, visit their website.

The manager says at the height of the season, nearly a thousand shoppers will visit the market.
