The Merrill Fire Department is giving thousands of dollars back to the city.
On Saturday, the department held an auction for extra tools and equipment leftover at the old firehouse.
People could bid on items ranging from clothing, retired firefighting gear and even nativity scene decorations.
The fire chief says the auction raised about $5,000.
He says the department plans on giving the money to the city of Merrill.
"It's kind of neat to see the history from the Merrill Fire Department and it's sad to see some of that go, but we can't have a place to store it all," said Merrill Fire Chief Dave Savone.
Firefighters moved into their new fire station in February.
