WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Crossfit enthusiasts in Wausau honored a fallen Navy SEAL Saturday by sweating their way through a difficult workout.
About 20 people completed the annual "Murph" workout that's named after Navy SEAL Lieutenant Mike Murphy from New York.
Murphy died in Afghanistan in 2005 and received the Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart.
Owners of Wausau Crossfit say the workout is a good reminder of the sacrifices that soldiers make to ensure our freedom.
"Run a mile, then you have 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats, then you run another mile," said Steve Slama, a co-owner of Wausau Crossfit. "You try to get underneath 60 minutes but we'll see today with how everything goes. We got some new people that are just stopping in to do the workout and we'll scale that for them."
Slama says the $400 they raised Saturday will go to the Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The foundation awards nine scholarships a year.
