Wausau hospital celebrates cancer survivors

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW)--A celebration of cancer survivors and patients took place at Aspirus Regional Cancer Center in Wausau on Monday.

The event was part of National Cancer Survivors Day.

There was food, drink and entertainment as well as information available about cancer.

"Once you are diagnosed, it is a journey and we really want to support them during their journey with cancer," said Don Strobel of the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center.

Strobel says medical advances mean more people are surviving cancer.

"There are 14 million cancer survivors in the United States and 15,000 in north central Wisconsin," Strobel said.
