High-tech ordering coming to Wausau restaurant

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- A Wausau fast food restaurant is getting a high-tech upgrade.

The Subway on Merrill Avenue is opening a drive-thru with a touch-screen ordering system.

The store's manager says the touch screen will help efficiency by freeing up employees to work the line.

Workers say the new system will make their jobs easier and help prevent mistakes.

"The customer just punches in their own order and then from in here, it prints out a receipt and then we'll have a monitor sitting by the sandwich-making area," said employee Korrina Vang. "Then we just make it and hand it out."

The store's manager says the touch screen won't be replacing any employees and their jobs are safe. He says the drive-thru is set to open later this month.
