Northern Wis. mom gets probation in drug case

MADISON (WAOW) – A 54-year-old northern Wisconsin mother was sentenced to a year on federal probation Tuesday for distributing the drug oxycodone from her home, U.S. Attorney John Vaudreuil said.

Lois Vetterneck's sentencing in federal court came just days after her son, Brandon Vetterneck, 37, was sentenced to nearly 3.5 years in prison for the same conviction.

Both pleaded guilty to the distributing oxycodone, a narcotic commonly prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain.

According to Vaudreuil, two informants purchased the drug on three occasions in April 2013 at the Vetterneck home in Lac du Flambeau.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb placed the mother on probation because she is seeking treatment for her addiction to oxycodine, she does not have any previous felony convictions and she is the primary caregiver for three young children, Vaudreuil said in a statement.
