March for Equality event gears up for another year

A federal judge has ruled Wisconsin's gay marriage ban is unconstitutional. Now, that ruling has sparked changes to an equality event in Wausau.

The second annual March for Equality will be held next Saturday. It starts at Marathon Park and ends at the 400 Block in Wausau. Organizers say they've made some changes this year, including all day entertainment, a children's craft table and a ceremony of love.

"As soon as they made the announcement Friday we said there's definitely something we can utilize there to play on that. We know there's a lot of couples out there that may have already committed to a domestic partnership or other forms of commitment and we wanted to give them that opportunity to express that publicly," said event vice president Jennifer Krug.

The first March for Equality took place last year to replace a planned gay pride parade. That parade was canceled when there was confusion about who the organizers were.
