Portage Co. clerk warns of email scam

PORTAGE COUNTY (WAOW) - The Portage County clerk of courts is warning people of an email scam.

Trish Baker says the office began receiving calls about fake court notices on Monday. People say they're received fake emails telling them to show up to court on a certain day and at a certain time.

Baker says Portage County does not send notices out through emails unless that was arranged with a person ahead of time.

The emails could be used to spread viruses to computers.
