Girls, 12, charged in Waukesha stabbing due in court

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WAOW) -- The two girls accused of a brutal stabbing of a friend to please an online fictional character are due in Waukesha County court Wednesday afternoon for a hearing.

Online court records do not list what type of hearing will be held.

Police say the girls, 12, lured their friend into the woods in Waukesha after a sleep over, stabbed her nineteen times and left her for dead.  The victim was able to crawl out of the woods and was spotted by a bicyclist who called 911.  She has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.  More than $40,000 has been raised since the attack to help the victim's family cover medical and legal costs.

The suspects are charged in adult court with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.  Newsline 9 is not releasing their names or showing their faces at this time.
