Posted:
Here are the top five high school plays from the week of June 9-14:

5.) In Assumption's sectional semifinal soccer game, Rachel Metz keeps Aquinas from forcing overtime by clearing a ball that was near the goal line. The Royals beat Aquinas 1-0 in the semifinal and took down Saint Mary Central in the sectional final to earn a state berth.

4.) Pittsville was tied 2-2 with Wausaukee in a sectional final baseball game when Brad Wesely came through with the game winning RBI. Pittsville's 3-2 win over Wausaukee sends the team back to the state baseball tournament.

3.) D.C. Everest got an incredible header from Hannah Hart that went through the legs of the SPASH goalkeeper in the Evergreen sectional semifinal win. The Evergreens then beat Appleton North 2-0 in the sectional final to earn the program's first ever trip to the state soccer tournament.

2.) In Rhinelander's sectional final win over River Falls, Gabrielle Millot scored a powerful goal from way outside the box. The Hodags toppled River Falls 4-0 and advance to the state soccer tournament for the first time in team history.

1.) Mosinee softball made it's first state appearance and behind the pitching of Rochelle Koshalek, the Indians shut-out both opponents in Madison to win the Division 2 state title. Mosinee only allowed one run in six postseason games. The Indians finished the season with an impressive 28-2 record.
