Teams test stacking skills in Wisconsin Rapids for United Way

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - Teams in Wisconsin Rapids put their stacking skills to the test for a good cause.

The United Way held their Strike Out Hunger event at Witter Field Monday. Teams made canned food sculptures around the park.

All of the items were donated by local businesses and groups. Organizers say the event puts a spotlight on people who are hungry.

"The community doesn't have a good awareness of hunger in general you know they think there aren't hunger issues in our community so we thought this is a great way to put it out in front of people," said Tari Jahns, the CEO of the United Way of Inner Wisconsin.

The sculptures will be on display at the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters game Monday night. Fans will be able to decide what creations win three awards.
