Summertime tradition kicks off in Wausau

Music filled the air at the 400 block in downtown Wausau Wednesday.

This year marks the 21st year of concerts in the square. Copper Box -- a cajun style rock band took center stage.

People set up their chairs and blankets hours before the event began.  Every Wednesday for 10 weeks there will be a different genre of music playing.

Event organizers estimated as many as 25-hundred people to come out to the concert. Something downtown business owners love.

"Anytime that there is a big event downtown we take that as a great opportunity to create new customers to present our product to the customers that maybe have never been here before," said Jalapenos restaurant owner, Angie Gonzalez.

Organizers say there are two new rules this year -- no smoking and no pets. The concerts start every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.
