Athletes in Weston test their skills in pickleball

WESTON (WAOW) - Some athletes put their skills to the test in a new sport Friday night.

The game is called pickleball. It is played on a badminton court with wood paddles. The ball is similar to a whiffle ball.

Players hit the court at the Greenheck Fieldhouse in Weston to try out the sport. Organizers say those who have already come out to play are loving the game.

"It's really a game of a lot of precision and placement,” said Kelly Zagrzebski, the tournament communications director. “Not so much hard slamming hits, but real placement and back and forth volleys."

Pickleball are another part of the Badger State Games. It continues at the fieldhouse Saturday morning.
